Finite Element Analysis
What is this?
FEA is a necessary engineering step used to verify load impacts and understand foreseeable deformations. The simple model analyzes a piece of sheet metal. The piece of metal experiences a load of 1000 lbf along the horizontal (x-axis). A total of 3 tests were conducted to identify the load results under specified boundary conditions. The sheet metal piece was 8" x 4" x 0.2".
Boundary Conditions
- Constrained along x-direction (Horizontal)
- Constrained along z-direction (Normal)
- Constrained along rotation of y-axis (Vertical)
- Point constrained along y-axis (Vertical)
Simulation Result Summary

---|---|---|
Stress | No bending stress along the horizontal | Yes! No bending |
Displacement | No displacement in the z direction | Yes! Constrained in z-direction |
Strain | Uniform strain without major deflections | Yes! Minimal red areas |
